At midday, people gather in the plaza in Building H — the food court at Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus. Students and neighbours alike are welcome.

Asian food, iron-pot rice, pasta, spice curry, omurice, crepes. Six booths stand side by side, and you choose by how you feel that day.

Order at the register or in the app, collect when your number appears on the monitor, then take a free seat. There is nothing complicated about it.

Asian (Chinese, Indonesian, Thai)

Chinese cooking as the base, reaching out to nasi goreng and gapao rice. Rice plates topped with a fried egg are the mainstay, some served with soup or a small bowl.

Tetsunabe Shokudo

Sizzling iron-pot rice

Rice dishes served in an iron pot — hamburg steak, pork kimchi, egg-simmered and more.

Pasta

From the standards — bolognese, carbonara — to a Japanese-style mentaiko. Some plates are finished with a cream sauce poured over the top.

What is inside the cafeteria at Ritsumeikan OIC?

In Building H of Ritsumeikan University Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC), in Iwakura-cho, Ibaraki, Osaka, there is a food court called OIC FOOD PARK with six booths: Asian food at Tiger Hanten, iron-pot rice at Tetsunabe Shokudo, pasta at Campus Pasta, spice curry at Professor & Spice Curry, omurice at Omurice malibu and crepes at CREPE LAB. Six choices on one floor is what sets it apart from other lunch options in Ibaraki. Six booths stand together on a single floor.

Can members of the public eat at the OIC cafeteria?

Yes. Alongside students and staff, local residents and campus visitors are welcome, with no special procedure. It is about a 5-minute walk from JR Ibaraki Station, and you can also come from Hankyu Minami-Ibaraki or Hankyu Ibarakishi Station. We are open Monday to Friday, 11:00 to 17:00, and closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Where can I find an affordable lunch in Ibaraki or Iwakura-cho?

Prices at OIC FOOD PARK run from 1 to 1,000 yen, with most dishes from around 550 yen including tax. Ordering through the app costs less than paying cash. There is a drink bar and there are desserts, and takeaway is available so you can eat elsewhere on campus.
